ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reform on Saturday directed for providing related documents of the revised PC-1 of the Mangla Dam raising projects.
It said that the documents may be provided along with approval of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). The meeting was held here in the Parliament House under chairmanship Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail. The committee directed that the Wapda must provide all documents regarding the cancellation of seven contracts of Mangla raising projects.
The committee was informed that there was a seepage issue of the Mangla Dam but it was not a dangerous. Addressing to the committee, Abdul Majeed Khan stressed the need for efficiency in completion and up-gradation of different projects of water reservoirs, including the Mangla Dam.
The committee asked that the WAPDA chairman and secretary and the National Engineering Services Pakistan Private Limited (NESPAK) managing director to ensure their presence in the meetings. MNAs Ch Jaffar Iqbal, Nadeem Abbas Rabaira, Dr Asma Mamdot, Shaheen Shafiq, Shamsun Nisa and Iftikharud Din attended the meeting, besides senior government officials.
